Degree Apprenticeship Scheme

Job description

Think there’s only one way to get a degree? Think again.

At the Bank of England while we have a rich history, we’re certainly not stuck in the past. We think innovatively to oversee the country’s entire financial system and keep it secure.

Our 36-month programme is designed to help talented people earn a full-time salary and study towards a fully funded degree at the same time (degree studies will continue post-programme and can take four years).

You’ll start with a formal introduction to the various areas of the business. You will get to know all about the vast and varied work we do every day. You’ll also enrol on a part-time undergraduate Degree Apprenticeship with a reputable university. There, you’ll learn the theoretical knowledge to complement your on-the-job learning.

There are three pathways to choose from:

Data Science, in association with NCH at Northeastern University, you will blend experience and knowledge from a wide range of fields and organisations, and continuously seek to expand your range of technical skills. This will give you the opportunity to gain a degree, incorporating maths, statistics, software engineering and communications.

Digital and Technology Solutions, which is responsible for the tech that tracks bank notes in circulation and records gold in vaults. You’ll be right at the cutting-edge of developments, working alongside experts in the field. We have partnered with the University of Exeter, who will provide you with quality tuition as you study towards your undergraduate degree.

Professional Economist, in association with the University of Kent’s School of Economics. This apprenticeship offers an applied, data-based practical approach to the teaching and learning of analytical economics. The programme is based on interactive e-learning, on- and off-site academic learning and annual residential weeks at the University of Kent Canterbury campus.

We understand that working and studying can be a challenge. You will get study leave, support from your line manager and a dedicated team of support to help you along the way.

We’ll value your perspectives and support you from day one. It’s a really collaborative and innovative environment, so you’ll need to be a great team player with plenty of ideas. And, importantly, we’re after people who are keen to learn and up for a challenge. Are you?

What we are looking for

If you’re finishing school this year, university is far from your only option. Our Degree Apprenticeships are ideal if you’re keen to start your career.
