Royal Holloway, University of London, is ranked in the top 25 universities in the UK (The Guardian University League Table, 2022). Royal Holloway was founded by two social reformers who pioneered the ideal of education and knowledge for all who could benefit. Their vision lives on today. We are one of the UK’s leading research-intensive universities, home to some of the world’s foremost authorities in the sciences, arts, business, economics and laws and attracts students and staff from all over the world. We currently have about 2,000 postgraduate students, out of a total student population of about 11,700. Our students benefit from a broad education, being taught and working alongside dedicated researchers and practitioners within our 25 academic departments.

As well as the campus in Egham, we have a thriving central London campus which offers a range of taught postgraduate courses.

Our location and facilities

Egham campus

Our Egham campus, based around the stunning Grade I-listed Founder’s Building, is frequently cited as one of the most beautiful university campuses in the world. A safe and leafy campus in Egham, Surrey, we are 40 minutes by train from central London and just seven miles from Heathrow Airport, with excellent road and transport links.

Founder’s Building is one of the world’s most spectacular university buildings, and home to our famous Picture Gallery containing Thomas Holloway’s fine collection of Victorian paintings, and our beautiful chapel, a site for reflection open to people of all faiths or none. It also houses a dining hall and library and provides a home for 500 students.

The Emily Wilding Davison Building, named in honour of one of Britain’s most famous suffragettes, and a Royal Holloway alumna, is home to our Library and archive services. In addition, the space is also home to and our Student Services Centre, Union shop and a café. The library itself houses a study space dedicated to postgraduate students.

Our campus is home to numerous teaching and study spaces, bars and cafés, high-quality accommodation, and sports facilities. All this is set in 135 acres of stunning parkland.

Central London campus

Our central London campus is home to some of our more professionally-focused masters degrees, providing you with easy access to the various educational, employment and networking opportunities the capital city has to offer.

We have an historic base at 11 Bedford Square along with a dedicated teaching suite at Senate House, the University of London’s impressive headquarters and one of the largest research libraries in the country.

New for 2022 is the opening of our renovated exclusive-use space in Stewart House, which will make another light and airy addition to our facilities in London. These three buildings, just a few minutes apart, provide an inspiring and vibrant environment to stimulate creative and critical thinking.

Bloomsbury has long been seen as an intellectual and creative hub within London and, as a result, we have amazing opportunities on our doorstep. Visit the world famous British Museum, take in a show at a West End theatre, shop on Oxford Street, or sample the numerous street food stalls and traditional pubs. All are only a five-minute walk away.

Fees and scholarships

All postgraduate taught courses have an annual fee and you will also need to consider living costs. Tuition fees cover all academic-related costs, such as teaching and supervision, use of the library and computing facilities, examinations and administration. Fees vary depending on whether you are a UK resident or live outside the UK. Royal Holloway also offers a discount to alumni wishing to study at postgraduate level.

Royal Holloway offers a comprehensive package of scholarships for postgraduate students, providing discounts on tuition fees or cash awards. As soon as you may have an offer, Royal Holloway recommends you apply for any scholarships you may be eligible for.
