Wrexham University
About Wrexham University
Studying at postgraduate level is a big commitment, and Wrexham University has the support systems, research expertise, and cutting-edge facilities to help you succeed.
We work side-by-side with employers, including global giants such as Toyota, Tata Steel, Airbus, and the BBC. No surprise then, that Wrexham University consistently scores as one of the top universities in Wales when it comes to postgraduate employability.
Transformative education, enormous opportunity
At Wrexham University, we believe that opportunities for higher education should be available to everyone, and we strive to provide the best possible accessibility for all students. In fact, we have been ranked number one in England and Wales for Social Inclusion for the sixth year running in The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2024.
Our inclusion team offers a range of services to help anyone with a disability or learning difference, from our on-site Assessment Centre to our extensive Assistive Technology Suite.
We also have a multi-award-winning Students’ Union which has a wide range of societies open to postgraduate and undergraduate students alike. Plus, we were the first university in North Wales to become Stonewall Diversity Champions.
Spark change
As a university, we are open to innovation and ideas, producing ground-breaking research and working on world-leading developments. One of our most notable successes saw our team at the OpTIC Centre in St Asaph polish prototype mirrors for a £900m project on the world’s largest telescope.
Research opportunities are available across a diverse range of subjects, focusing on areas which make a difference to industry and communities, as well as having an impact on economic, social and cultural issues.
Our Lecturers are here to support you throughout your research endeavours, and this has been recognised as we have been ranked 1st in the UK for feedback satisfaction in the 2024 Guardian University Guide.
Be part of something special
We offer a comprehensive and diverse range of support services at Wrexham University, from our award-winning Careers and Employability service to our specialist one-to-one study skills support.
You will be well-represented by our active and welcoming Students’ Union. We are currently ranked as the top university in Wales for Student Voice and the Students’ Union by the National Students Survey 2023.
Student, Andy Cairns, said: “Wrexham is quite a small university and the academic community here are very active researchers, so this really is a superb university to choose for postgraduate study – you will be warmly welcomed and effectively supported throughout your studies.” Read his full story here.
Rooted in community, powered by progress
Our campuses have that community feel and are home to a range of state-of-the-art buildings and facilities.
You can regularly enjoy more than 70 lecture theatres, two separate libraries, and a dedicated university art gallery. In addition to this, there are specialised facilities for certain subjects, including studios for audio recording and TV production, as well as facilities for specialist engineering disciplines and computing subjects. We have developed subject-specific spaces including new science labs, Colliers Park National Football Development Centre and a Veterinary Nursing clinical suite. Our Health Education & Innovation Quarter (HEIQ) includes the development of our brand-new Healthcare Simulation Centre, a cutting-edge facility with industry-leading technology. Nursing and Allied Health Profession students can go even further by having the opportunity to experience simulated real-world scenarios.
