Volunteers' Week 2023
Every year from 1-7 June Volunteers' Week recognises the invaluable contribution volunteers make to society
This year, 2023 marks the 39th year of Volunteers' Week where organisations and charities run activities such as volunteer recruitment and recognition events, both online and in-person to celebrate the vital role volunteers play in our communities.
Volunteering is possible in most roles and locations and charities and non-profit organisations are in constant need of volunteers. Freely giving your time to help can have a huge impact and not just on the organisation. Like ripples in a pond your act of kindness can touch individuals, communities and society as a whole.
What's more time spent volunteering can benefit you too. It:
- looks impressive on your CV
- gives you the opportunity to gain valuable work and life experience
- teaches you essential transferable skills, such as communication, team work and organisation
- demonstrates your commitment to a particular job or sector.
According to the UK Civil Society Almanac 2022, 16.3million people volunteered through a group, club or organisation in 2020/21. If you'd like to join the ranks and give your time to a worthy cause learn more about volunteering and available opportunities:
