Industrial Operations: Programme Delivery Undergraduate

Job description

Your placement year at university could not have come at a more exciting time.

An undergraduate scheme at JLR is specifically designed to prepare you for a successful, long-term career with us. Surrounded by an innovative and dedicated team of industry experts, you’ll apply your learning and satisfy your curiosity for what’s possible.

Arrive curious. Discover opportunity.

Industrial Operations: Manufacturing

Manufacturing is at the heart of our Industrial Operations function, which incorporates our manufacturing, procurement and supply chain teams, and consolidates accountability for the production of our vehicles.

Manufacturing is central to JLR, with thousands of vehicles being created every day across our production facilities. Here you will have the opportunity to influence the future of manufacturing. This award-winning scheme is aimed at undergraduates who have a passion for learning and a pioneering mindset: ambitious, innovative and determined individuals who respect our heritage and can think beyond the challenges of today to build the cars of tomorrow. Whilst gaining wide-ranging hands-on experience and pursuing your ongoing studies, you will work on projects that are fundamental to our global success.

Industrial Operations: Programme Delivery

Excellence in Manufacturing Delivery – Manufacturing Programme Management drives the business by uniting cross-functional teams through our end-to-end process to ensure the most sustainable manufacturing solution is in place for all vehicle and unit programmes. At every stage of the process, we satisfy our customers by creating products that are ready to meet cost, quality and time targets.

During this programme, you will learn how manufacturing delivers new programmes and vehicles from initial concept to finished mass production. You’ll be interfacing with key stakeholders from inside and outside the wider manufacturing group, including manufacturing engineering, programme management, product engineering and quality.

What’s more, you will also assist with the tracking and robust resolution of manufacturing and programme issues to achieve product feasibility and manufacturing launch readiness and provide robust input into launch quality deliverables, the high hurts process and Process Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (PFMEA). Finally, you will learn to collect, co-ordinate and analyse technical and investment inputs for programme gateway submission, while focusing on capital investment and cost per unit.

Rewards and benefits

Our 2024 undergraduate programme salary will be £21,377. You’ll also enjoy a generous holiday allowance, a discounted car purchase and lease scheme for you and your family, an excellent pension scheme and access to a wide range of deals and discounts from retailers and sports clubs.

You will be applying your curiosity and creativity every day as you begin to hone your skills for a successful, impactful career. You own your development, and only you can make it happen. We’ll be right by your side in your pursuit of exceptional, and we’ll give you all the encouragement and support you need.

What we are looking for

You will need to be on track to achieve at least a 2.2 degree in manufacturing engineering or any science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) discipline (not including biology or life sciences).

In addition, you will have real passion for problem-solving and the curiosity to understand business challenges and deliver innovative solutions. You will also have strong numerical and interpersonal skills and the confidence to champion new initiatives.

Please note that our undergraduate placement opportunities are open only to penultimate-year students (those who will be returning to their final year of study or on an integrated master’s after their placement with us).
