People (Human Resources) Undergraduate

Job description

Your placement year at university could not have come at a more exciting time.

An undergraduate scheme at JLR is specifically designed to prepare you for a successful, long-term career with us. Surrounded by an innovative and dedicated team of industry experts, you’ll apply your learning and satisfy your curiosity for what’s possible.

Arrive curious. Discover opportunity.

People (HR)

We call our Human Resources (HR) function the People Chapter – because people are central to the JLR story. This chapter is at the heart of what we do, right from attraction and recruitment, through to building lasting careers. As part of our Reimagine strategy, we’re driving an ambitious people transformation agenda – and we want you to be part of it.

The next generation of luxury, sustainable cars will be powered by our next generation of talent. And that’s where you come in. As proud creators of modern luxury, our people are our greatest asset, and throughout your placement, you’ll deliver true value to our people’s experiences and the business, through three key rotations. Along the way, you will become close to our people, our products and services, and gain hands-on project experience.

You could find yourself involved with projects to support business transformation or developing new employee experiences across the organisation. We will aim to give you real insight into our people strategy, whilst broadening your core HR competencies and developing your business acumen, data literacy, digital dexterity and advocacy skills. You will also enjoy the opportunity to explore deeper, more specialist functional competencies and we will hold regular curiosity conversations, where you can tell us what you’re keen to learn and where you want to take your career.

Rewards and benefits

Our 2024 undergraduate programme salary will be £21,377. You’ll also enjoy a generous holiday allowance, a discounted car purchase and lease scheme for you and your family, an excellent pension scheme and access to a wide range of deals and discounts from retailers and sports clubs.

You will be applying your curiosity and creativity every day as you begin to hone your skills for a successful, impactful career. You own your development, and only you can make it happen. We’ll be right by your side in your pursuit of exceptional, and we’ll give you all the encouragement and support you need.

What we are looking for

You will need to be on track to achieve at least a 2.2 degree in any discipline, though we’re particularly interested in courses involving data analytics, behavioural science or psychology.

In addition, you will have real passion for problem-solving and the curiosity to understand business challenges and deliver innovative solutions. You will also have strong numerical and interpersonal skills and the confidence to champion new initiatives.

Please note that our undergraduate placement opportunities are open only to penultimate-year students (those who will be returning to their final year of study or on an integrated master’s after their placement with us). All our undergraduate programmes have a fixed start date, commencing 1 July 2024.
