About the programme
If you're passionate about engineering and technology, and you want to make a real difference in the world, then our 4 year Project Controls Apprenticeship is the perfect opportunity for you.
Our Project Controls function plays a vital role in delivering complex projects on time and to budget. In this hands-on role, you'll work across a variety of projects, gaining exposure to all aspects of project controls, including:
- Project Management
- Project Controls
- Planning/Scheduling
- Risk management
- Change and Contract Management
You'll also have the opportunity to rotate through different areas of the business, giving you a well-rounded understanding of our operations.
You will gain experience working and communicating with project stakeholders at a variety of levels in the organisation and gain real life experience in helping to deliver major Design & Build projects for our customers.
At Rosyth, you can expect to work on the build, maintenance and refit of UK Royal Navy and international naval vessels, including the Type 31 Frigate Programme and UK Submarine Dismantling Programme. You can also expect to experience working in our wider engineering and marine services business which encompasses the through-life support of complex assets, marine engineering and platform design, and advanced manufacturing.
Throughout your apprenticeship, you'll be supported by experienced professionals who will help you develop the skills and knowledge you need to become a successful Project Controller.
What you’ll need
- Maths and English at National Level 5 plus one other Science or technical subject.
- Two other subjects at National Level 4 or 5.
Many of our early careers roles are subject to Security Clearance and Trade Control restrictions which mean that your place of birth, nationality, citizenship, or residency you hold or have held may impact which roles you are eligible for. For our early careers roles, you must be able to achieve BPSS and many of them require you to be eligible for Security Clearance.

Training
Through Fife College, you'll study the following qualifications:
- SVQ Level 2 in Performing Engineering Operations
- SVQ Level 3 in your chosen engineering discipline
- National Certificate in your chosen discipline
- Core skills at intermediate 2/SCQF Level 5.
All of which will build your understanding and knowledge of project controls principles and ensure you become a well-rounded professional.
