Ready to kickstart a career that truly matters? Join our 4-year Quality Assurance Graduate Apprenticeship and you’ll play a key role in ensuring submarines and surface ships are safe and ready for action at HM Naval Base Clyde.

About the programme

As the Ministry of Defence's partner at HM Naval Base Clyde, Babcock provides specialist engineering support for naval bases and nuclear facilities. In the role of Quality Assurance Engineer, you'll make sure our activities meet the highest standards - keeping the world safe and secure.

During the programme, you'll join a welcoming team responsible for planned and reactive audits and product quality investigations. You'll provide quality assurance for submarine and ship maintenance. This involves things like:

  • Carrying out audits and investigations
  • Reviewing key documents produced during maintenance periods
  • Ensuring activities align to safety, time, cost and quality targets
  • Gaining broad experience across the supply chain.

With the skills you gain, you'll be able to implement processes that assure the quality of critical defence projects. And you'll be on track for a bright future working in the marine and nuclear sectors.

What you’ll need

  • Maths, English and Science at Higher Level Grade B or above.
  • Any other subject at Higher Level Grade B or above.

Many of our early careers roles are subject to Security Clearance and Trade Control restrictions which mean that your place of birth, nationality, citizenship, or residency you hold or have held may impact which roles you are eligible for. For our early careers roles, you must be able to achieve BPSS and many of them require you to be eligible for Security Clearance.

Training

You'll study towards a BEng (Hons) in Engineering: Design and Manufacture at Strathclyde University. This covers all the theory to support your on-the-job learning.

The Graduate Apprenticeship Engineering: Design and Manufacture degree course is approved by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, the Institution of Engineering and Technology and Institution of Engineering Designers.
